Good all round especially breakfast with home madeBread. Lovey building and grounds.Only downsides:Rooms slightly dated (very minor)Dividing bedroom Walls not well insulated at all. Woke up hearing next room alarm at 5am and could hear phone conversation clear as day in next room on other side furthest away. For that reason 4 stars.

We came up for 4 nights to explore the area and go to a couple of whisky distilleries. From the moment we arrived Lynne made us at home. Our room was immaculate, spacious and surprisingly quiet for how close we were to a main road.We both slept like babies...especially my husband! Our breakfast was fabulous, fab selection, good quality products and nothing was a problem. It felt home from home without all the fun stuff like cooking, dished etc! We recommend and we will certainly be back...not as soon as we like. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay Lynne â¤

We had a wonderful two-night stay! A beautiful room in a charming home. The entire home and grounds have a wonderful feel to them. Excellent bed linens and a spotlessly clean bathroom. Our room overlooked the Instagram worthy garden, and we will definitely be back to enjoy it in better weather. Very good location to the train station and to the town. An easy walk to Glen Moray distillery too. We started both mornings with a delicious full English cooked to perfection! Our final morning, the owners, who are obviously busy, stopped to have a wonderful chat with me. Weâll be back and highly recommend to other travelers!

Thank you to our host at the Pines B&B.This charming old house, converted to a guest house has all the amenities we needed for our stay in Scotland. Close to the center of town, but not too close (but still in walking distance), large rooms with en-suite bathrooms, TVs, tea and coffee.Breakfast was large enough to get you through the day with fully cooked breakfast, lighter options and homemade bread for the toast. There was a barista coffee machine which was also a welcome extra touch.Great location for anyone doing the Whiskey Trail, fishing on the River Spey or just want to explore the Highlands. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area visiting.

I'm not usually one for leaving reviews but after staying at the Pines I found that I just had to. We arrived earlier than expected which was no problem for Lyn who promptly showed us to our room answered the few questions that we had. The room was comfortable and clean and surprisingly quiet considering it faced the main road. Breakfast was lovely and tasty, the potato scone was a nice touch, although I'd recommend getting down early. It's just the sort of house I'd love to live in as it still had its beautiful original features and is set in lovely surroundings with ample parking.Thank you, Lyn, for making us feel so welcome and we hope to be back sometime.

Waited a long time to gain entry as did other guests arriving after us. Maybe an interior bell that could be be heard would be better. The breakfasts when they finally arrived were ample and filling however it was the first B&B I have stayed in that only gives you one slice of toast each. The room we had was the Four Poster room and the comfort I would rate as sumptious. It more than made up for the aforementioned niggles and that's all they were - niggles. Overall a thouroughly pleasant stay with good road links to the rest of Northern Scotland right on the door step. The hosts were lovely and I will most definitely look to book here again.

From my friendly and welcoming greeting and walking up the beautiful grand staircase to my lovely spacious room, I felt immediately comfortable. The guest house is very nicely furnished with creative decor, objects and art.Lyn kindly asked me if I wanted the window open just a bit, which I appreciated. The luxurious bedding was as comfortable as it was beautiful. With four pillows on the bed, I was able to choose the one that was most comfortable for me and I truly had an excellent nightâs sleep. The sound-proofing in the guest house was amazing â I never heard a sound in the morning from other guests closing their doors and going downstairs to breakfast. It was as quiet as if I was the only guest there until I went into the breakfast room and saw the others already there. The breakfast menu which I marked my choices from the day before along with my chosen time to arrive for breakfast, was generous and extensive. In addition to my delicious hot breakfast, the continental choices were also generous and excellent quality, including a lovely fresh fruit salad, mixed seeds, my favourite brand of yogurts that I have at home, and chilled bottles of water, which I found very thoughtful. My only suggestions â a small shelf fixed above the hand basin in the shower room for placing my toiletries, a small shelf in the shower cubicle for placing the shower gel and shampoo, and a second chair in the room since itâs a double room, so if two people were in the room they could both sit with the small table between them to have their coffee or tea and lovely biscuits.Thank you for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

My experience at the Pines Guest House was simply outstanding in every way, shape, and form! Lynn is an absolutely stupendous host who was friendly, helpful, and accommodating in every way. She provided local recommendations and was just all-around kind and great to chat with. The room was gorgeous and cozy--I loved the Monet prints--and one of the cleanest accommodations I have ever stayed in. The bed and pillows were super comfy, the roller curtains and regular curtains kept out enough light to satisfy me as someone who is very sensitive to light, and the shower was hot and relaxing. The room even smelled extra good! The b&b building itself is beautiful, too. The made-to-order breakfast was simply delicious, properly Scottish, and quite satisfying, with a variety of options. The 'continental'/additional options were also really great. It was my favorite b&b or hotel breakfast that I have almost ever had! If I ever make it back to Elgin, you bet that I will be staying at The Pines Guest House! 6/5 stars, highly recommended.

Breakfast was lovely and service was excellent. Both Chas and Helen were very friendly and helpful especially Chas advising us where we could go locally. We could come and go as we pleased so felt very much like home from home. They provide shampoo and body wash and even a hairdryer so I neednât have bought mine. Would definitely recommend and stay here again, although I understand they are hoping to sell up and retire.

Travelled for a short golf break. Very pleased with every aspect of both the host and the property. Excellent greeting, service and overall hosting skills shown by an experienced hotelier.Property presented immaculately, nice large aired room with clean bathroom. Breakfast was a treat again host experience shone through, selection to suit any taste (grapefruit juice aside lol) location is ideal, short walk into town centre, property has private off road parking with relatively easy access.Would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this establishment for a short or long stay, you won't be disappointed.

I couldn't have asked to stay in a better place. Travelling from Edinburgh and knowing how beautiful up North is I was very excited to stay at this guest house after seeing online how stunning it looks. My boyfriend, from Perth first time travel up North didn't know where we were staying so it was a nice surprise for him. Welcomed with a friendly host. The bedroom was spacious and clean. There was tea/coffee facility within the room with a comfortable cosy bed. A brilliant breakfast with plenty of choice. Nothing was too much trouble for the host. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to come back and definately recommend. Thankyou Laura.

I turned up after booking a room on the pines own website ( direct booking) and was told that I could not have a room as they were fully booked. Very disappointed, seems like a poor booking system as firstly they did not have the booking ( I had an email confirmation though) and secondly the system did not allow me to make the booking for a couple, even though I was booking a king size room.We did not stay at this venue so I can give a star rating ( have had to give 1 but would have put 0 if the system would allow)

Lovely house with off street parking, although it's on the very busy A96we didn't have a problem with traffic noise due to the secondary double glazing.Walking distance was a little far from town for me as I have a few mobility problems. We stayed in room 6, a double/family room. The room was quite big and quirky and clean but in need of refurbishment.I believe the rooms are undergoing refurbishment at the moment so I'm sure this one will be on the list.My only problem was not being able to find a plug near a mirror for using the hairdryer. The breakfast choice was excellent, the full Scottish being one of the best experienced.Choosing any other combination was never a problem and always served by very friendly staff. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

Having read some of the negative reviews I was concerned about our stay here. Now that I've stayed I would have to say most of the negativity is unwarranted. Sure the water pressure is lower then most but I showered with no problem. Chas the owner is strictly professional in his dealings with the customers. Other owners are certainly more personable and I realize some people might be disappointed by this but there is no need to complain. My wife and I were very comfortable and the breakfast was great. They even allowed us to use their laundry facilities to wash out a few things. Overall I would have to say the night was good.

We stayed at Pines Guest House last June. The guest house is easily accessible for tourists and has its own parking area. When we arrived we had a nice welcome from the receptionist. Our room was very big, with a comfy double bed. Everything was really very clean and from our window we could see Elgin cathedral. However, the room was really too cold, so we stayed all the night under the blankets.Despite this small problem, we had here one of the best breakfast in our trip: there was a wide selection of cereals and yogurt and a good choice from the a-la-carte menu for the mean meal, also for vegeterian guests.

Although directly at the main road, the mansion is set aside far enough within its grounds to be quiet. The bedrooms are stylish and cosy. We arrived for a 3 night stay, visiting family in the area. Rooms are generously proportioned and really comfortable with large beds, good en suite facilities, chairs amd storage. The bedding and mattresses ensure a really good night's sleep. Although the hotel is by a main road it is set back and we were not disturbed at all. There is good parking in front of the house. Breakfasts are great! I liked the fresh fruit option and the full Scottish is excellent. Chas is a welcoming and informative host and we enjoyed our stay. Excellent value for money.

Excellent place to stay. We only stayed one night however the host was extremely accommodating from the moment we arrived. Room was very spacious and airy. Breakfast was also first class. The price for our room was very cheap consideringsome of the nearby B&B and hotels of a lesser quality but with a higher price tag.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Pines Guest House. Standard better than most hotels, regarding room as well as breakfast, although Cuba added some good laughs. The location of the guesthouse is near the centre of Elgin and perfect for reaching other interesting places in the area.

Having always wanted to stay at The Pines, itdid not disappoint. The proprietor met me on arrival, took my bags up the stairs for me & showed me to my room. He was very friendly, relaxed & very welcoming. The room was well appointed with plentiful toiletries such as cotton wool balls, cotton buds, shower gel, shampoo & tissues. On Sunday morning, I was treated to a hearty breakfast, cooked to perfection!. This is a superb B&B and would thoroughly recommend it to others.

Stayed again at 'The Pines' on a return visit after 5 years - The Pines has new Owners and i'm pleased to say that this previous excellent Guest house has improved. An overnight stay for family reasons was very comfortable and my 89 year old mother and myself were made very welcome - The cooked Breakfast was excellent. The Pines is an incentive to visit Elgin more often!
